Distortion
2002 follows in a similar vain to last years Extreme
festival, which featured eight of the biggest, best and
most exciting American and British skate punk / ska core
acts around, including Less Than Jake, Pitchshifter, The
Vandals and The Ataris. Distortion is set to be even
bigger and better, says director Andy Copping: “This
year will see up to 16 bands over two stages, the bill
already looks amazing and we are currently in talks with
some very high profile acts to join the show.”
Despite numerous ups and downs throughout his lengthy
career, Iggy Pop almost single-handedly created an
entire genre of music and remains one of rock's top live
performers and all-time influential artists.
Director George Akins said: “We are extremely happy
with the way things are going this year. Iggy Pop is a
legendary artist, and Green Day are one of the biggest
bands around at the moment who have both helped boost
the profile of Distortion, putting the event on a par
with City In The Park.”
Wollaton Park is the perfect setting for such an event,
with the backdrop of the historical 16th century hall
within the grounds of its natural amphitheatre. The
location makes for a breathtaking setting with perfect
views from all of the ten-acre enclosure.
The summer’s day long event organised by Rock City
will include further attractions such as street theatre
and funfairs.
