Florence and the Machine, The London based band that rose to fame back in 2008, are going on tour throughout the UK in 2010. Florence and the Machine rose to prominence as part of the BBC’s campaign to promote new musical talent via their campaign ‘In New Music We Trust’. Florence Welch and the machine have since appeared at several major music festivals including, Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds and T in the Park. The band has won ‘Best Breakthrough Act’ at the UK Festival Awards 2009 and the South Bank Show Award 2009. They have also recently been nominated for 3 BRIT Awards including: British Solo Artist, British Breakthrough Act, and Best British Album for “Lungs” masterpiece.
The band’s debut album “Lungs” was released last July and went double platinum in the UK, peaking at number1 in the UK album chart. News of a second album currently in the works and the announcement of their UK tour will be music to the ears of their ever growing fan base.
The Florence and the Machine tour will consist of 9 mesmerising shows starting in May. The popular group will explode onto stages in Edinburgh on the 5th and 6th May, before performing two shows in Blackpool on 7th and 9th May. Civic Hall will then host the band on 10th and 11th May, before finishing with three shows at London’s Hammersmith Apollo on the 13th, 14th, and 15th of May.
