In The City 2009 takes place in Manchester this year between 18th, 19th and 20th October 2009 the base is The Midland hotel but events are happening right across Manchester at various bars and venues.
The music conference will have showcases from the likes of NME Radar, BBC Introducing, Xfm, SJM Concerts, Now Wave, Big Scary Monsters, Swn, Front Magazine, Love Music Hate Racism, Same Teens, Future Sounds, Drowned in Sound, Rock Sound, Fierce Panda, Sentric and Murkage.
This year In The City – the UK’s international music convention – launches the new all-signing, some-dancing, open to the public ITC Live – bringing 150 bands over 3 days to the streets of Manchester.

In The City has confirmed a line-up of leading digital entrepreneurs to debate the artist/fan relationship including the founders of Seatwave and Soundcloud, the top two companies in The Guardian’s recent ‘Tech Media Invest Top 10’ list. Anthony Volodkin, the founder of The Hype Machine, Ian Hogarth co-founder of Songkick, Alex Ljung the founder of Soundcloud, Joe Cohen the founder of Seatwave and moderator Sean Adams of Drowned in Sound will lead a panel discussion under the heading ‘Tribes, Fans and Followers’ examining the evolving relationship between artist and fan with particular reference to the digital landscape.
We also have legendary photographer Gerad Mankowitz and Bella Union head honcho Simon Raymonde (in conversation with Chelsea, Everton and Scotland fave Pat Nevin), with more to be announced over the next few weeks.
