Sir Paul McCartney is to play a concert in Glasgow for the first time in 20 years. The Paul McCartney Glasgow Concert will take place on June 20th 2010 at Hampden Park. The Paul McCartney Live in Scotland Show will be part of his Up And Coming tour.
This tour is billed as his farewell tour, celebrating 50 years playing live, and his show at the National Stadium of Scotland is sure to be a popular one. Paul McCartney Hampden Tickets are on sale now.
Mecca Hampden Park Tickets are likely to sell out fast with the show being his first since he played the SECC on 23rd June 1980.
McCartney kicks off his latest tour with gigs in America, including two shows at the Hollywood Bowl in California on March 30 and 31, a venue for concerts by The Beatles in 1964 and 1965. Macca’s farewell tour will last right up to his 70th birthday.
Since 1990, he’s clocked up 800,000 miles gigging, playing in more than 22 countries. He still holds the world record as a solo act for performing in front of the largest paying audience, rocking 184,000 at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the same year.
He will thrill fans at Hampden with a new stage show which features classic Beatles hits such as Drive My Car, A Day In The Life, Hey Jude and Get Back.
McCartney first played Scotland when The Beatles backed singer Johnny Gentle on a tour in the early ’60s. The Fab Four toured extensively north of the Border and he also played several gigs with Wings, including memorable dates at the Glasgow Apollo.
Full details of his Hampden Park gig will be announced within days.
Sir Paul will turn 68 two days before the show. He said: “I’m especially looking forward to playing in Glasgow as it’s been quite a while.
“Scotland holds such a special place for me. I have loads of Scottish mates and so many great memories of being there.”His tour will take in gigs in London, Cardiff and at the Isle of Wight Festival.
